The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), puts rigorous science to work to build a healthier planet and a safer world. In today’s polarized political environment, UCS leads with solutions: about how to respond to the consequences of climate change, cut our oil use in half, ramp up renewable energy, reduce the threat from nuclear weapons, build a healthier food system, and much more. We believe that scientific analysis—not political calculations or corporate hype—should guide government policies. Our staff includes scientists, engineers, economists, and analysts and we augment our substantial in-house resources with our proven ability to mobilize some of the nation’s top scientists as well as our network of 450,000 members and supporters to address some of today’s most pressing problems.
Jason works with the Clean Vehicle and Climate & Energy programs to develop robust and integrated campaigns in California and other western states. He helps advocate for UCS positions, builds partnerships and coalitions with critical partners, and manages engagement of UCS experts and supporters.
Jason will give us an overview of our fuel system, how it is changing, and how smart choices going forward can really move us towards a clean transportation future. He'll also touch on the companies – particularly oil companies – that are most responsible for carbon emissions and blocking progress.
