Please join us for a candlelight vigil this Friday, Nov 22, from 5:15–6:15 pm on the sidewalk at L Street (at 11th) on the north side of the Capitol. We will honor the memory of the thousands who lost their lives to Super-Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest storm at landfall ever recorded, and seek donations to help the people devastated by this extreme weather event.
Yeb Sano, the Philippine delegate to the climate talks currently underway, has been on a hunger fast throughout the two weeks of the talks in Warsaw to focus on the urgency for leaders of the world to make real progress on climate change. Our vigil will be on the last day of those talks. You can hear Yeb Sano's moving speech at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SSXLIZkM3E.
Bring a candle and join 350 Sacramento and others to help draw attention to the plight of the people of the Philippines and other victims of climate change, to connect the dots between extreme weather and climate change, and to pressure our leaders to adequately address this critical issue.
PS. Please help us publicize this event--there isn't much time. Send this note to others on your email lists, post to your facebook page, share with your place of worship and other networks. Thank you.
