"Hima Students Restoring the Garden of Eden" Dr. Michelle Stevens and three of her students [Tova Fleming, Monica Dean, and Brandon Thomson] will be discussing their exciting work on Mesopotamian marsh restoration and starting a non-profit organization. These students show how we can make a big difference, at least inside ourselves, by our actions on what appear to be insurmountable environmental problems.

"EARTH DAY in the QUAD" Join us for free food, music and educational materials that promote sustainability in our community. Vendors such as Sac State’s own Recycling Committee will be collecting recyclable materials [clothing, e-waste, batteries], Dining Commons will be giving away free veggie sandwiches and J DUBZ will be spinning Reggae music! Come relax, play frisbee, do yoga in the grass, and network with local businesses.

FREE CONCERT "Open Mic Poetry Event with Poet/Activist JARED PAUL" Jared Paul [Strange Famous Records] will be hosting and performing at this Open Mic Poetry Event.

"Whale Wars" Matt Kimura from the Animal Planet Series "Whale Wars" details his and the crew’s experiences on the "Sea Shepherd" as they went head-to-head with Japanese whale poachers in the Pacific Ocean.

"10 Not-So-Simple Things You CAN'T Do to Save the Earth" Dr. Virginia Matzek lectures on misconceptions about what makes an environmentalist.

"Dirty Coal: The Toxic Addiction" Documentary Screening by [REAP] Renewable Energy Accountability Project. The film sponsored by REAP (Renewable Energy Accountability Project) calls on world leaders to focus on the dangers of coal burning power plants. The film features important interviews with actress and activist Daryl Hannah; author and energy policy expert S. David Freeman; and co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union Dolores Huerta.
