Come out if you can to the Oil Train Protest Wednesday, July 9, from noon to 1 at the Federal Railroad Administration building at 801 I St in downtown Sacramento (more info in the press release--see earlier blog post). We'll commemorate the 47 people who died on July 6, 2013, from an oil car derailment and explosion in Lac-Megantic, Quebec and look at what can be done to stop this insanity. Our event is part of the North American Week of Action to Stop Oil by Rail happening across the US and Canada.
There will be a short program including:
· Moment of silence for the victims - all
· Call to stop the oil trains – Laurie Litman, 350 Sacramento
· The Scope of the Challenge and what we need to do next – Lynne Nittler, Yolano Climate Action
· View from the Legislature – Hon. Roger Dickinson, Assemblyman, Sacramento
Please join us to show support for stopping these dangerous trains coming through Sacramento. Bring a sign to stop the oil trains if you can.
PS. We are looking for a small PA system with battery-powered mic we can use for this outside event. Please let me know if you or your organization has one we can use.
